[ space.media.arts ] has been running an extremely popular and successful internship and volunteering scheme. Individuals who are interested in gaining professional experience in a public or media arts context benefit from exposure to the administrative and organisational facets of what we do, as well as the technical and hands-on side.
Volunteers are principally based in our Media Lab, acquiring from and sharing experience with our staff and suite users, as well as working on their own projects.
Interns are more involved in arts administration and marketing. Occupants of both positions are encouraged to tap into [ space.media.arts ] wide network of contacts and resources for their own projects. We take a very proactive approach to training our volunteers and interns in digital applications and organisational skills, ensuring that they leave [ space.media.arts ] not just with arts experience under their belt, but with exceptional skills that will enable them to find employment in a variety of media/art fields. Our interns and volunteers have gone on to professional employment in a range of production, television, visual arts and freelance contexts.
